A romantic villa in Porto with a private pool, two ensuite suites, and the whole property to yourselves. Villa Almada works just as well for two as it does for six, and the private-pool-in-Porto-centre combination is what most of our couples and anniversary bookings come for.
The whole villa, just the two of you
Some couples book Villa Almada and only ever use one suite. That’s fine. You take the whole villa, with no other guests, the garden and pool to yourselves, and the second suite as a dressing room or a quiet morning spot. It’s the closest thing to a private villa retreat without leaving the centre of Porto.
Breakfast served, somewhere different every morning
Daily breakfast is included in the rate, and you choose where to have it: in the villa garden, at the kitchen island, or across at La Cuisine in the Maison next door. Most couples rotate through all three over a long weekend. It’s the bit of hotel that holiday rentals usually skip, and it’s the bit that makes the stay feel like a treat rather than a self-catering exercise.
Porto is set up for slow romantic days
Rua do Almada is a short walk from Ribeira and the Douro riverside, the Cedofeita bars and restaurants, and the port lodges across the Dom Luís I bridge. The classic romantic day in Porto from Villa Almada looks like: pool in the morning, riverside lunch in Ribeira, port tasting in the afternoon, fado in the evening, late-night swim back at the villa.
A Douro Valley day, then back to the pool
The Douro Valley is an hour or two from Villa Almada (see our guide to getting from Porto to the Douro Valley). Take the morning train, do a wine tour with lunch, come back in time for a late-afternoon swim and a slow evening on the terrace.
Anniversaries, proposals, milestone weekends: Villa Almada is private enough for a proposal and small enough that a milestone weekend doesn’t get lost. Tell us in advance and we’ll arrange flowers, port, or a quiet table at one of our favourite Porto restaurants without making a fuss of it.
Frequently asked, before you book
Can two people book the whole villa?
Yes. Couples regularly take the whole villa and only use one suite. The second suite becomes a dressing room or quiet morning spot.
Can we arrange anniversary extras?
Yes. Tell us in advance and we will arrange flowers at check-in, port or champagne, a small cake, or a quiet table at one of our favourite Porto restaurants.
Is the pool private to us?
Yes. The pool is in your private garden, not shared with the Canto de Luz Maison guests.
How close is the Douro Valley?
About an hour by train or car. See our guide on getting from Porto to the Douro Valley for the best routes.
