Villa Almada is the other arrangement — a private villa with its own walled garden and pool, on Rua do Almada in central Porto, so the city is on foot and the pool is through the back door.

The pool, and how it works with children
The pool sits in the villa’s own walled garden. It is not shared with the Canto de Luz Maison next door, which means no strangers, no queue for a lounger and no wondering who else is out there — the garden is yours for the week.
It is a private residential pool rather than a supervised hotel pool, so there is no lifeguard and children must be watched by an adult at all times. The garden is walled and gated, but the pool is not separately fenced. Parents of very young children should know that before booking rather than after arriving.
The pool is open seasonally and can be heated on request for a supplement — worth asking about if you are coming outside high summer, when Porto is mild but the water is not.

Porto with children, on foot
Porto is a hill city, and a lot of central accommodation involves a climb with a pushchair. Rua do Almada does not — it is flat, and the walk to Trindade metro is three to five minutes.

Matosinhos, Porto’s biggest city beach, is about 25 to 30 minutes on the metro. The Foz do Douro beaches are roughly 20 to 25 minutes by tram or taxi and tend to be calmer for younger children.
Can we get to the villa from the airport with children and luggage?
